Founded in 2020, Popl began its journey with a bold vision to revolutionize how people connect.

After gaining early traction through Y Combinator, Popl expanded its offerings to provide teams with a seamless, all-in-one solution for digital business cards. By 2025, Popl sharpened its focus, transforming into the go-to platform for in-person lead capture — empowering professionals to turn every handshake into measurable value and every event into a lasting opportunity.

Poised to disrupt the event lead capture landscape, Popl needed a more mature brand to match its vision — without sacrificing the cutting-edge spirit of its team.

Brand Strategy

With curiosity and iteration baked into its core values, Popl will always be at the forefront of event technology that just feels magical.

Combining the Ruler archetype — that of an industry leader — with the Magician brought us to a custom persona to guide our work with Popl: the Magical Ruler. This archetype creates a world of structure and stability for its audience, serving as a powerful and trustworthy leader and helping customers tap into new abilities.

We worked with Popl to develop a brand concept, a big, aspirational theme rooted in brand strategy: “Connection that clicks” just, well, clicked. During in-person meetings, there’s a connection. It’s not just about the lead, it’s about the relationship. Popl customers can get there first and build that rapport, facilitating a customer experience that feels like magic. With Popl, leads spark connection. Stronger relationships, partnerships, and conversations — all primed to last.

Logo

The Popl logotype represents the seamless and simplified experience of creating connections. The flowing linkage between the counters of the letters symbolizes the ease of connecting with others. That flow is then balanced with highly geometric and technical type design, giving this logo the cutting-edge feel we were after.

Visual Identity

The Popl visual identity is confident and elevated, with elements that hint at its audacious ethos.

The color palette pairs neutrals with a wide spectrum of bold yet dignified jewel tones. The result is a palette that continues to deliver on confident leadership, with browns that feel ownable and premium in a tech world overrun with grays.

Gradients, glass, and a line pattern based on the logotype round out Popl’s visual language. Inspired by sunsets, gradients capture the magic of those pivotal, beautiful moments in the day.

We created several fresh glass-effect styles in varying colors and, as the cherry on top, an animated shine. The shine adds a bit of magic to the visual language, especially when it comes to web interactions. It is a small motion element that has the potential to become an iconic piece of the Popl identity.

Popl’s primary typeface HW Nuckle is technical, legible, and most importantly has just the right amount of character. It’s subtle, but subtlety is what Popl does best. Figtree is the secondary typeface, a perfect pairing with Nuckle and appropriate for subheadings and body copy.

Popl knew it needed a homepage that feels as magical as its customer experience, establishing the brand as the undisputed leader in an industry ready for disruption. We worked with Popl’s team to bring its homepage to life with the new brand. By building out the homepage UI, Popl was empowered to apply the new brand to the rest of the site and platform.
