Alex thinks design should, above all else, be user-focused and make a difference, while still looking amazing. Pushing pixels and evolving ideas is her passion.
A true East Tennessean, Alex came up (the Southern version of “grew up”) in Bristol, TN, and attended the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) for her BFA in graphic design. She made pit stops in Boston and Charlotte, NC, but those Smoky Mountains always call her back home to Knoxville.
Fresh out of college, she completed a summer internship in Oslo, Norway, working with the Norwegian National Museum on an experience design project for visitors. After returning home from Scandinavia, she packed up her car and moved to Boston for her first full-time design job. She would soon find out that environmental design and wayfinding was NOT what she wanted to do, and that New England blizzards are not her style either.
It wasn’t long before Alex was back in the South and settled into digital/UI design in the advertising world. The large agency environment allowed her to work with a range of client types and forge valuable design skills like animation, illustration, and brand design. She also determined that a collaborative environment and personal connection inspire impactful design. She never assumes to know it all, and learning new things through working with other people is what drives her.
If Alex isn’t napping on the couch with her two beagles, Ollie and Smokey, she could be hiking, visiting friends, trying out new restaurants, or planning her next big trip. And if it’s a Saturday in fall, you can bet she’s cheering on her alma mater in football (and ignoring the fact that they lost).
